Maps became a measurable channel

For a local spa the guest often skips the booking form entirely — they get directions, call, or simply walk in.

We rewrote the profile and started measuring that layer of demand separately, alongside the campaigns that feed it.

A WhatsApp click is not counted as a booking. We measure it separately.

In short

We did not just run the ads. We made the demand visible.

In a local business the guest rarely takes the tidy path of ad → form → purchase. They open Maps, message WhatsApp, call, or simply walk in.

When that whole path is measured, budget can be scaled on how guests actually behave.

How we market a spa in Bali

A spa in Bali is not sold the way an online product is sold. Almost nobody compares five studios in a browser tab and then fills in a form. The guest is already on the island, an evening has opened up, and they look for a massage near the place they are staying — in Google Maps, in the search bar, in a saved Instagram post, in a hotel WhatsApp group.

So most of the intent never touches a classic funnel. It shows up as a route request, a phone call, a tap on a link in the bio, a message at four in the afternoon asking whether there is anything free at five. Count only form submissions and that demand stays invisible — and the budget drifts towards whichever channel happens to be easiest to measure.

For ASAI Spa in Jimbaran we connected those pieces into one system: Google Ads and Meta Ads bringing demand, local SEO and GEO so the spa is found in Jimbaran and around it, a Google Business Profile run as a channel rather than a directory entry, one page where every source lands, and a WhatsApp flow where a manager replies with two concrete slots and a price instead of “hello, how can I help”.

The goal was never clicks. It was to tie advertising to what actually happens next — routes, calls, WhatsApp conversations and paid bookings — so the budget could follow how guests really behave. It is the same system we run for hospitality businesses across Bali, from restaurants and cafés to villas and wellness; the rest of it is in our case studies.

Frequently asked

Questions we get about marketing a spa in Bali

How do you advertise a spa in Bali?

Start where the demand actually sits. Most guests are already on the island and searching close to where they sleep, so the base is a properly run Google Business Profile, local search, and Google Ads on intent that is near to booking. Meta Ads add reach for treatments nobody searches for by name. Then every source needs one landing point and a fast reply channel — for ASAI Spa that was a single booking hub and WhatsApp, which together turned 28,016 sessions into 2,497 booking taps. We start with a free audit.

Which channels work best for a spa in Bali?

For ASAI Spa, four of them did the work together: Google Maps, Google Ads, Meta Ads and WhatsApp. Maps produced 6,043 route requests and 369 calls in four months — demand that never opened a booking form. Meta and Performance Max generated the most WhatsApp conversations (170 and 145), Search fewer but closer to a booking (77). No single channel explains the result on its own; the ranking only became visible once all of them were measured in one place.

Does Google Ads work for a spa in Bali?

Yes, but only when it is optimised for bookings and messages rather than clicks. Search picks up people who already want a massage tonight; Performance Max reaches the broader local demand and, in our case, drove 145 WhatsApp conversations. Across May to August, 128.2M IDR of ad spend was traceable to 397.8M IDR of paid booking revenue — roughly ×3.1. Without conversion tracking on bookings, route requests and WhatsApp taps, none of that would have been visible.

How important is Google Maps for a spa in Bali?

It is often the first screen a guest sees, and for a local spa the profile behaves like a sales channel rather than a directory entry. Over four months the ASAI Spa profile was viewed 108,440 times and produced 6,043 route requests, 2,537 taps through to the site and 369 calls. Many of those guests never opened a booking form. Rewriting the profile and measuring it separately is what made that layer of demand comparable with the paid channels.

Not sure which channel actually brings you customers?

We will go through your Google Ads, Meta, Google Maps, website and WhatsApp and show you what works, what leaks, and where the budget should go.
